As you might have been aware, there�s a large demand for a Final Fantasy VII remake � to which Tetsuya Nomura addressed fans that newer games (such as Final Fantasy Versus XIII) take precedent over such projects. Why? Nomura states that they want to create new Final Fantasy games that can surpass peoples� expectations instead of remaking classics. A Final Fantasy VII remake or a new Final Fantasy that is just as good or better.
Nomura went on to say that Final Fantasy producer and 1st Production Department head Yoshinori Kitase is the successor to the Final Fantasy legacy after creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. Sakaguchi, in past interviews, has also expressed his trust in Kitase as the heir tho the franchise he started.

�I still go out drinking with Yoshinori Kitase, the current producer of Final Fantasy, once in a while, and on those occasions he does tell me that it�s all fine. Sometimes, I personally complain a little bit about certain things about the franchise. But when I left Square, I left the franchise in Kitase�s hands, and he promised me he would protect and progress the Final Fantasy brand. He has been my right-hand man since round about the middle of Final Fantasy III, and therefore I have a lot of trust in him.�

In past interviews on the subject of a Final Fantasy VII remake, Kitase treads carefully � stating that there are certain pitfalls and challenges with such a project. Firstly, the company�s manpower was (and is) devoted to their current games and it would be a costly project to undertake. Secondly, there�s always the huge amount of nostalgia and high expectation to live up to � so much so that a remake may end up disappointing more fans than pleasing them.
As developers, there would be a desire to recreate the game faithfully while making tasteful improvements. This would include refining the game�s elements or removing features that didn�t work. However, many of these things � even imperfections � give the game it�s unique character as Kitase put it. With so much hype to live up to, he concluded that it might be best to keep the memory of Final Fantasy VII as it is.

On the lighter side of things, Nomura talked a bit about the development of Final Fantasy VII � letting us know that the character Yuffie was originally imagined as more of a fugitive (which isn�t a large stretch of the imagination) and her wanted poster would appear in the game. Other party members that join you would receive wanted posters, the last remaining members of AVALANCHE.

Snow DLC

Has anybody beat this yet? I bought it and went to the Coliseum and didn't really understand it. I thought it was a whole other side story, but is it just a Coliseum battle with Snow? I played it for a minute then looked at his health and saw it was about 10 million and decided I"d just play it later. So has anybody else played it and beat it? Is that all it is or is there more to it after you play the Coliseum battle?

Since the DLC contains some major story details and to avoid spoilers being posted in the other thread, here is a separate thread for discussing about the DLC's story.

[SPOILER]Requiem of the Goddess summary post

“The last thought left to me was a question. Would my endless prayer ever reach you? Serah…can I ever make things right?” Lightning says, over some slow-mo shots of her and Caius. Caius begins talking.

“Pointless. The time measured by Etro will cease to exist.” Lightning leaps away from Caius. “All potential and possibilities will collapse. Time will end, and the future will fade.”

“You’ll have to kill me first!” Lightning charges and they fight. “Caius Ballad!” Their swords cross, title appears. Light stabs at Caius, who disappears. She sees Serah, surrounded by Chaos.

“What the..?” Serah is having a vision, Lightning gasps. “Serah!” Clip of Serah dying plays, Lightning foresees her death.

“It can’t be. Serah…” As Lightning walks towards the image of Serah, Caius appears behind her and attacks. She doesn’t react quick enough to block the attack, Caius hits her to the floor. She reaches out to the image of Serah and collapses.

Caius advances towards her. “Too easy.” Before he finishes her off, Lightning is submerged in Chaos. He smirks. “Lightning is dead. I killed her with my own hands.”

Lightning wakes up in Etro’s Shrine, in front of the throne. She stands and sees Serah suspended by chaos in front of the throne. She walks towards her but Chaos rises, blocking her path. Yeul’s voice is heard.

“Your sister - she is the same as us. And so she is with us. Always with us. Until time is destroyed, she will sleep with us. When the world ends, she will end with us.”

Serah’s arms are now suspended above her heard. Lightning raises her gunblade. “Let her go!” Serah begins to cry black tears.

“She will melt into darkness. As we all will. Yes, you will share her fate.” Yeul begins to laugh, the place shakes,

“Serah!” The Chaos manifests itself as Caius.

“Let’s end this.” “I won’t let you have her!”

Lightning voice-over begins as the camera pans over battle ready Lightning. “Was this battle a dream? Or was it reality? Would a victory here even help to set you free? I didn’t know what would happen, and when the end finally came…I had none of the answers I needed. But I had no choice - all I could do was fight. Only one thing was certain. This was the war that would decide the future.”

Battle starts.

After defeating Caius, Lightning rides back to the beach the DLC began on and to the spot where she saw Serah. She demands the Chaos lets Serah go.

“By what right do you demand her release?”

More Chaos appears and Lightning and Odin begin to sink into it. The Chaos has taken the form of Yeul as this happens.

“Serah’s death is your doing.” Lightning fully submerges in the Chaos. She speaks over a replay of the CG scene in which she arrives in Valhalla.

“I thought my actions would atone for my past. After washing up on the shores of Valhalla, I gazed through the Eyes Of Etro and witnessed the events of your age. It was a waking nightmare. Lives beyond counting, swallowed by Chaos and vanishing into the Void. Some of those souls had been enemies, dispatched into death’s realm by my own hand. It was a tragedy I couldn’t ignore. My path was set: I would remain in Valhalla, and carry out the will of the goddess. The sorrows of the dead would be mine to bear. It would be my atonement.”

The voice-over continues over a clip of Lightning flying through the Historia Crux.

“I was chained down by my past sins, unable to move forward into the future. I needed you, Serah. That’s why I asked for your help.”

Clip of Lightning saving Noel/Serah during final battle. (“It’s up to you to keep hope alive.”) Then returns back to Historia Crux.

“For me, there is nothing…there is no hope.”

Yeul speaks again, “Serah’s death is your doing. At your bidding, she began her journey…and thus her life was lost. It was you. You are to blame for this doom.”

Lightning wakes up in front of Etro’s Throne yet again, after saving Serah/Noel. She’s crying over Serah’s dead body.

“I’m so sorry. Oh, Serah…” There’s a flash of light and Serah (dressed in her XIII attire) appears on Etro’s Throne.

“Don’t be sorry. And forget your tears - you don’t need them. No matter what future is waiting for us, I’ll have no regrets. No matter what end we see coming, I won’t change my mind.”

“You knew…you knew what would happen.” Serah’s corpse disappears.

“You taught me how to live my life. No matter what, we shouldn’t give up hope.”

“Serah…”

“I believe in you. You’ll keep the future of this world safe. So it’s okay. I don’t mind if I’m gone…” Chaos appears around Serah, the XIII-2 instrumental theme plays.

“Serah!” Lightning runs towards her.

“I have no regrets. None at all. I chose to start my journey because I wanted to see you again. But there was a reason I decided to keep going. It was a promise I made to myself. It’s okay, Lightning.”

There’s a flash of light as Lightning reaches the Throne. Scene shifts to Lightning and Serah in each others arms, in some sort of bright void.

“Don’t forget me. When Cocoon fell, and you seemed to just disappear… Everyone was so sure. They said that you were gone. That you were dead. But not me. I just knew. I knew that you were alive somewhere, and I’d find you eventually. I never gave up hope… and now here we are. Just keep me in your thoughts. Remember me, and we’ll see each other again. No matter what happens to me…even if I vanish from this world. Promise me, Lightning. Promise you’ll remember me.” They’ve drifted a little apart at this point. Serah begins to cry. Her tear falls and as it does, it glows and there’s another flash as it passes her Cocoon pendant.

Lightning is kneeling in front of Etro’s Throne yet again, alone. She stands and steps appear before her. She begins to ascend and this plays. A light shines above her as she walks, feathers fall from the sky.

“I’ll never forget. I promised you that. Even if I stand to lose everything, I’ll preserve your memory for the tomorrows yet to be. Come what may. I could breath my last breath, and the world be crumbling into oblivion. There are ways to keep a thought alive. And I know one that works for sure. Indestructible crystal. Even in the sea of chaos, it never loses its shine. I will become an eternal epitaph. Your memory will survive for eternity within a crystal tomb. This shall be my legacy, and my atonement. But most of all…my final hope.” She sits on the throne.

The scene changes to the second half of the ending, in which Valhalla arrives on Pulse

“These thoughts that live within my heart, they will endure the passage of eons. If they can one day be the light that guides Serah’s soul back to me…If we can laugh together just one more time…Well…then I have nothing left to wish for.”

We see Lightning sat on the throne and the credits roll.

After the credits have finished, Lightning speaks again. The screen is still black, feathers eventually blow around on it.

“The gods’ tales are woven in crystal. The tale of Bhunivelze, the slumbering god bearing witness to an eternal dream. The tale of Etro, the goddess drowning in a sea of chaos. Etro bestowed upon humans a gift. Thought unseen, that gift - it lies within us all. It is a constant turmoil of light darkness, strength and frailty, beauty and unsightliness. That gift is our spirit.”

Camera pans across Etro’s Shrine. The throne is empty.

“It gives us the strength we need to persevere in hardships. But at times, it is nothing but a curse, straying beyond our control…causing us pain and sorrow.”

Screen returns to black.

“Even so, it is something far too precious to lose. It is what allows me to hold hope for the future. In a world consumed by chaos, in a world where spirits are fading. I ask myself: have I the strength to embrace my gift?”

Scene shifts to the Dying World.

“For now, I sleep, my dreams everlasting. It is here that I await the end of eternity…”

In A Distant Future… appears on the screen. Lightning is standing in the Dying World.

“…and the day I awaken once again.”

Hello Everyone~! :)

My name is Tiffany and I'm 26 years old. I've been a Final Fantasy fan since I've started playing FF10 & 10-2 and watching Advent Children so I'm pretty new to the series lol Later I played KH2 and FFXIII before XIII-2 was released to understand the story plot before playing the newest installment. There are still other games of the series that I haven't played yet but hopefully I will later when I have the chance to get them. I didn't discover this community until I found it when I was doing a web search for FFXIII-2 and I found a link that caught my attention which I clicked on and it led me to this site here. So there XD

For my favorites hobbies, I love to read manga, watch anime, and listening to Kpop. I use to listen to Jpop but when I listen to one of the tracks from 2NE1 (which has now become my latest craze) I was hooked which after that, I listened to other artists nonstop lol

Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with all of you fellow fans and members in this lovely community to discuss about things related to Final Fantasy and many good times to come :)

Morning all,

can someone please help me as I'm going out my mind with this...... :'(

I have been playing the game for more that 14 hours and must admit a number of those were wondering aimlessly around wondering what gates etc to open. So heres my question -

Im finaly on Sunleth Waterscape 300 and when I try and open the gate for 'Archhlyte Steppe' I get told 'Nothings happening'?? I have looked up guides etc and have defeated all required for the gate artifacts but am still told I cannot open the gate???

Could I have messed this up by opening the wrong gates earlier in the game or is this impossible? I was going to start a new game but realy dont want to do this.

can anyone please help? Im possitive I have everything for this zone as have checked up on 3/4 walkthroughs?

Any help would be appreciated.

Bonner County sheriff candidate Shaun Winkler does not quite understand the point of these things, or at least, doesn't care, because he invited the media to a cross burning.

Square Enix sued for hating China

Square Enix has been sued by a Chinese lawyer for their decision to fill China with Chinese people and allowing you to harass, assault and murder them.

About me:

I'm from Bolivia (yes really), so my first language is spanish, excuse me if I make some grammar mistakes sometimes :P

First game I've played and loved was Kingdom Hearts, I borrowed it from my friend and loved it so much that I begged my mom to buy me my own copy (unexistent here) So they had to buy one in the US and send it all the way over here :/ (I aprecciate It :D)

Other games I love: Okami (the music!, the artwork!)
I really enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII for the music, the art style ( Isamu Kamikokuryo fan ), I liked the story and characters too.

Right now, I'm watching The Legend of Korra and loving every second of it, they managed to keep the feel and quality of the original series :O
